This long-term initiative has inspired thousands of Eco Clubs in Assam, many of which have taken sustainable practices on their campuses to new heights.
One such shining example is the Eco Club of Nellie Government M.V. School, Morigaon district, which has demonstrated outstanding commitment and creativity in achieving its sustainability goals. The Eco Club has undertaken the following initiatives:
- Active participation of Eco Club teachers in both state-level and district-level workshops on solid waste management and vermicomposting organised by the Implementing Agency (IA).
- Conducting Eco Club-level workshops to share the acquired knowledge with students.
- Setting up vermicomposting units within the school premises, managed by Eco Club members.
- Utilising the compost produced to nurture a vibrant Eco Club kitchen garden.
- Packaging and selling the vermicompost locally through door-to-door campaigns, promoting a circular economy and community engagement.
These initiatives have effectively addressed several themes under Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), including Reduce Waste, Adopt Sustainable Food Systems, and Adopt Healthy Lifestyles.
Through such model efforts, the Eco Club of Nellie Government M.V. School has become a beacon of inspiration, showcasing how small, consistent actions can collectively drive large-scale environmental change.
