From May through June 5th, CES mobilized over 2,000 eco-clubschoolsacross all districts to conduct a variety of activities aimed at reducing plastic use and promoting sustainability. These included:
Plantation drivesin 500 schools, planting2,500+ saplings
Painting and slogan competitionson plastic pollution
Rallies and cleanliness campaignsaround temples and ponds
Reusing waste into usable and creative items
A major highlight was theState-Level Eco-Model Exhibition,held onJune 5, 2025, in Bhubaneswar. This exhibition was inaugurated by theHonorable Chief Minister, Odisha. He visited each stall, appreciating the participants' efforts. The event showcased innovative eco-models from all30 districts, shortlisted through block and district-level rounds. Guided by the District Education Officers, the top model from each district reached the state-level competition. These models were judged by a panel of experts based on innovation and future implementation capacity.
Winners of the Eco-Model Exhibition:
1st Prize– Sriya Danga, Class X, Lalbahadur Govt. High School, Tileswar, Boudh
2nd Prize– Deepika Devapriya Panda, Class IX, Bagdevi Nodal Bidyapitha, Daliji, Kendrapara
3rd Prize– Debasmita Rout, Class VIII, Govt. UP School, Gobindapur, Keonjhar
These talented students received Rs. 15,000, Rs. 10,000, and Rs. 8,000 respectively, recognizing their creativity and commitment to environmental sustainability.
Best Eco-Club School Awards – Honouring Odisha’s Green Leaders!
To recognize the exceptional efforts of schools in promoting environmental awareness and action, CES presented theBest Eco-Club School Awards. Schools were judged on their year-round eco-club activities, creativity, student involvement, and impact on the community. After a careful review of their documentation and achievements, three schools were selected for their outstanding contributions:
1st Prize– Government High School, Sikarapai, Rayagada (3rd Best Eco-Club Award at the national level by MoEF&CC)
2nd Prize– Nettanga Deenabandhu Bidyapitha, Nettanga, Ganjam
3rd Prize– Janata Govt High School, Ruguda, Sundargarh
Eco-Club in-charge teachers of these schools received cash awards of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000, and Rs. 10,000 respectively. These schools stood out for their innovative environmental practices, such as plastic-free campus drives, creative use of waste, student-led green campaigns, and active community engagement.
This recognition not only celebrates their commitment but also inspires other schools to scale up their environmental actions and contribute to a greener Odisha.
A key event was the release of “A Comprehensive Report on Elimination of Single-Use Plastic (FY 2023–24 & 2024–25)”, documenting successful actions taken by Eco-Clubs and CES to combat plastic waste.
