Eco Club students (Classes 8–12), along with teachers, local artisans, Panchayat and School Management Committee (SMC) members, actively participated in the programme. Students went on nature walks to nearby hills to study about the Buggar grass—its growth, harvesting, and uses. They also learnt about its environmental benefits, especially its soil-binding properties that help reduce erosion. Local artisans further enriched the experience by training students in the traditional weaving techniques of Buggar grass, turning learning into a fun and meaningful activity.
The initiative revived interest in sustainable crafts rooted in tradition while promoting eco-friendly practices and reducing reliance on energy-intensive materials. At the same time, it also helped to conserve traditional knowledge and fostered greater appreciation for biodiversity and regional flora, weaving heritage with sustainability for a greener future.
