Clay Ganesha Idols by Little Hands

Under the banner Chitti Chetulatho Matti Ganapathi Prathimalu, the National Green Corps in Telangana promoted Eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi. Through quick clay idol-making workshops, students learned sustainability values—water conservation, tree plantation, biodiversity, and food chain protection—reviving the tradition of clay idols made from local soils and immersed back in nature.

Students actively participated in making idols using natural clay, decorating them with pebbles, beads, and pulses and also learnt about the significance of using Patri (21 sacred leaves) in Pooja. Students were sensitized on the harmful effects of thermocol, plastic, chemical paints, and Plaster of Paris idols, and were encouraged to adopt biodegradable alternatives.

This initiative not only nurtured creativity and traditional art skills but also instilled practical knowledge of sustainability. Children learned teamwork, cultural pride, and eco-friendly practices while inspiring their families and communities to celebrate responsibly. Parents and teachers also joined in, strengthening community bonds. Over time, such activities contribute to building environmentally conscious citizens who blend faith with ecological balance, reducing pollution, promoting biodegradable practices, and fostering a greener future.
